Did you know!

For all my Coffee LOVERS OUT THERE

Being a Bay Area native i understand the significance of small mom and pop restaurants. For example Peets Cofee & Tea ...Well for those who felt the same way I did about the difference from Peets and Starbucks guess what?

THERE NOT SO DIFFERENT... well at least in the beginning.

Turns out the founder of Peets, Alfred Peet started Peets in the late 60's in the heart of the liberal city of non-other then Berkeley. Good friends of his loved the idea and decided to start their own in non-other then Seattle, Washington called... you guessed it STARBUCKS. For the first few years Peets Coffee & Tea transported coffee from Peets in Northern California to Starbucks in Seattle, Washington. Is it funny that Starbucks is now all over the WORLD and Peets Coffee & Tea is fairly popular on the west coast. Yet, when you walk in to Peets you feel as though each one is unique to that community. Obviously I am a little Bias so I'm sure you can guess which one I'm a fan of.

Check out the video and hear what people have to say about both coffee houses.

So which one is better Starbucks or Peets?? Me personally I like the non franchise feeling you get when you walking into Peets!

some more history on Alfred Peet.

this makes me want some now... gotta RUN!

TALK ABOUT INSPIRATION

THE 2010 DO SOMETHING AWARDS aired on VH1 last night, I was not sure what to expect. To my surprise, I was beyond inspired by the average and not so average citizens of the world that where doing extraordinary things on this planet. So I did some research and discovered the award show is sponsored by www.dosomething.org where teens and virtually anyone can find a cause they are passionate about and discover how to help.
There was one finalist story that really stuck with me. A woman enduring Genocide in Rwanda at only age 9 when her family was brutally murdered leading to her life long mission to tell her story.

So many people doing so many great things in the world I think we get so consumed in our daily lives we often forget how to actually live and what it all really means.

When our time is past and our party days are gone, how will we be remembered? The entrepreneur machine, the corporate America guru? I think its important that we please ourselves and make ourselves happy in the success we strive to obtain, but within that lies the deeper meaning of happiness and a deeper understanding of life. I’m only 23 and haven’t lived through the life that will confront me in the future years to come. But I know the gratifying feeling to help someone who needs it, or the shear joy I feel when I hear a persons story form struggle to triumph.

We are all individually blessed and have a special place and purpose on this earth. Don’t loose site of the bigger picture while running to your next class or scheduling your next meeting. People suffer and endure tragedy every Day, Minute, and Second so I ask the question again… when all is set and done what do you want to be remembered by? Your name or your legacy?

Food for thought…

Don't forget to check out the AWESOME award show on VH1.
and DO SOMETHING!!!

LONDON IS MY HOME

Its been a month since i have been here and I must say that I think I'm in LOVE!!! I'm not to sure if its all the walking and the feeling of not being lazy after you eat because you gotta walk yourself home instead of hopping into a car.
OR
The diversity of people you see everywhere you go that makes me love this city even more, each day I step outside.
The weather is actually to my surprise not that bad, however it is starting to get a little chilly as Fall sets in.
Okay so i went to a "football" game it was so fun, 52,000 people in attendance the energy was so LIVE it as GREAT! I also had a chance to go to London Fashion Weekend which was also a wonderful experience. Tons of designers selling their items at whole sale prices, it was SO COOL to be apart of that.
AND THEN
last weekend i went to PARIS, the weather the people the language AND the food was MARVELOUS!!! Had the opportunity to ride the elevator to the top of the Eifel tower!!! breath taking view from the top ( a bit scary but non the less an blessing to be there) . Went to the Notre Damn Cathedral which was so coo. WE actually had the chance to go inside while church service was going on, the architecture was SO BEAUTIFUL!!!! Later that day headed to the famous Lourve Museum to see MONA LISA aong with Ramsey the 2, and the Code of Hammurabi ( the fist ever written law code known to humans) which was of course very cool...
That whole weekend i realized that i LOVE the FRENCH language. Though I didn't care 4 it much when i took 2 years of it in junior high. NOW i think it is SUCH a beautiful language the way the sentences sound reminds me of a song the way it flows so beautifully together!!! Another thing on my to do list... Learn the French Language!!! :-)

All in all im having an amazing time here. And surprisingly i don't feel like a foreigner anymore! After being in France, coming back to London for some odd reason made me feel more at home. This is my home ( for now at least) and i must say i love it here and can very well see myself moving back in the future.
Until next time

PEACE N LOVE

17 days...

17 days...

In the last 17 days i came to London, England to start a new journey. To break away from all that I knew and discover the unknown. To challenge my self, and everything i was comfortable with..

In the last 17 days I have made a new home, met great people, explored an ancient city, been to art galleries, and Pubs, discount fashion forward stores, and the beautiful coast of england Brighton Pier.

Classes have been going pretty good, I think I am taking some interesting classes, with a range of different people in each Which makes for very interesting class discussions. One that is particularly interesting to me is a PoliSci class called Islam ad the West, learning about the Muslim faith which I never knew much about is so interesting. I love learning about religions/cultures/traditions that hold so much HISTORY!!!
Aside from class what i have been doing a lot of is WALKING!!! I can now say I wish I didn't have flat feet. Got to the point where every step i can feel. Now i am searching for those shoe sole cushions to insert into EVERY SHOE i have HA!
Last Weekend I wen to Brightion Pier a very quaint beach city on the coast of England. it was Amazing, absolutely breath taking.... reminded me of a santa monica pier... Minus the large crowds, traffic, and pollution, AND add a castle where royalty often laid there head on vacations. :-) I had fish and chips by the sea, i did not fancy it to much But you gotta try everything once RIGHT!

The Rain blessed us with it's presence a few days ago, eagerly reminding me that YES you are in London, get used to this. SO mustering up the Strength my room mate and i did not decide to let the weather get the best of us(well sort of) we stalked up on what the grocery store called "usa food" and watched movies online haha

Aside form my bad luck with my banks.... one card being ate by the ATM machine, another being deactivated without my notification from my bank, i have been having a good week. Im walking Im breathing. Went to a Bar that is kept at below 0 degrees.. ABSOLUTE ICE BAR was like an experience I have never had before.. walked in handed them a ticket and like getting on a roller coaster they give you ground rules, "here is your coat, gloves connected to your jacket, you have 45 min" Looking at my unfashionable cape like coat they slide over me i thought "THIS IS SO COOL" Apprehensive we walked though a lukewarm area and a sliding door opened to a world of everything ICE!!! the bar the drinks poured in Ice cups, that molded to your lips by the time you where done drinking your drink. seats where Ice walls where ice Everything was...about 15 Min. and my finger tips where getting numb haha.. but it was such an experience had a great time, and I can say that I survived the popular ABSOLUTE ICE BAR...

I was blessed and able to book trips in the near future to Holland and Amsterdam, with hopes of making it to greece for Fall break and Rome to visit Family in November, and a trip to Budapest as well... So complaining is the last thing I will be doing because Everytime I wake up it hits me that I am here finally, so make the most of IT!!!

....17days it has been of excitement, and NEW unexpected things I encounter each day..17 days down..its going by fast so Im absorbing as much as i can and making sure I remember every moment with Pictures AND THIS BLOG!!

PEACE AND LOVE ALWAYS
Zeny

Ps. PARRIS NEXT WEEKEND!!! :-)
